One of the jewels of Baltimore architecture, the beautiful and historic Hippodrome Theatre opened in 1914 as a vaudeville theatre and movie palace. Its ornate main auditorium could seat 3,000 theatregoers, and it hosted such performers as Bob Hope, Benny Goodman, Dinah Shore, in addition to showing classic Hollywood films. The modern era of the Hippodrome began in 2004, when it was restored and reconstructed as part of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center. These days, Baltimore residents flock to the Hippodrome to see nationally renowned musical, theatrical, and comedic performers.
Returning visitors praise the theatre’s comfortable seats, beautiful lobby, and easy parking underneath the facility. An online events calendar will keep you up to date about which shows are slated to appear, and online ticketing allows you to reserve your seat from home at The Zenith. You can also rent the space for private or corporate events (wedding receptions, fundraisers, or graduations) with on-site catering services available.
