Barre workouts have a reputation for combining low impact workouts with truly demanding strength-building poses. In fact, Charles St Barre has always promised its students that after finishing your first class here, you'll become aware of muscles you didn't even know you had.
If you're a newcomer to barre workouts, you might be interested in this DC studio's Barre 101 class, which will introduce you to the basics: isolating specific muscles, and giving them a workout using small isometric movements. If you want to amp up the difficulty level, consider the Barre Burn session, which is designed for experienced students who are familiar with the basic barre techniques. Whichever class you choose, be sure you bring socks with some traction on bottom, a bottle of water to stay hydrated, and a hand towel to wipe away any sweat.
