Say Thanks by Giving Back

givethanks

It’s the season for giving thanks and giving back to the community! Whether you want to work hands-on and volunteer, or just enjoy a night out, there are plenty of fun opportunities in the area to help out those in need this holiday season.

Volunteer Opportunities

Moveable Feast
Provide meals for individuals with critical, life-threatening illnesses this holiday season through Moveable Feast. Gather your friends and volunteer as a kitchen assistant, dietitian assistant, or delivery driver. Whether you can dedicate days or just an hour of your time, Moveable Feast is a great way to help those in need this holiday season!

United Way of Central Maryland
Become a holiday helper for United Way of Central Maryland this holiday season. You can volunteer at their Holiday Pop-Up Market, where you can pair with a member of a family in need to help them pick out free gifts and healthy food items.

Santa’s Helpers Anonymous
Become one of Santa’s elves for a day through Santa’s Helpers Anonymous. You can cook turkeys for families in need this Thanksgiving, or volunteer to deliver food to families and see firsthand how much the work of Santa’s Helpers means to them.

Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins
Volunteering at Believe in Tomorrow is a great way to volunteer with your friends! The Children’s House offers plenty of opportunities for groups to get involved, including the Family Supper Program, where you can provide meals for families as well as enjoy the meal with them and get to know the family.

My Sister’s Place Baltimore
My Sister’s Place in Baltimore offers plenty of volunteer opportunities, and you don’t even have to leave your home! Meal service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a great way to help hands-on, but if your tight schedule makes it difficult to go out to volunteer, you can also make casseroles at home for the meal services.

Weinberg Housing and Resource Center
Weinberg Housing and Resource Center provides meals and other resources to approximately 275 residents. You can volunteer once, or as many times as you would like by assembling bagged dinners or serving meals to clients.

Giving Tuesday AIDS Day
Just because Thanksgiving will be over, that doesn’t mean we should stop giving thanks and giving back to the community. Join Chase Brexton Health Care for Giving Tuesday: A World AIDS Day Benefit. The event will take place Tuesday, December 3 at Hotel Revival Baltimore from 5:30-8:30pm, and will be sponsored by Tito’s Vodka.

We wish all of our Zenith residents a very happy Thanksgiving and do hope you’ll take the opportunity to give back to the Baltimore community.
